Romanian Singer Sues Culture Min For Authorship Rights

Romanian singer Florin Chilian asks EUR1 million compensation for unauthorized us of one of his songs by the Romanian Culture Ministry.

 Florin Chilian intends to sue the Ministry of Culture and Cults  for  using his zong “Zece” without asking for his permission.

In 2005, the song  „Zece”, composed and sang by  Chilian, was used in a video clip for the campaign “Better a book” initiated by  the Ministry  without having a written statement from the artist allowing the use of the song.

Chilian said that he is amazed how the law on authorship rights was breached by the very institution that was supposed to protect  its enforcement
