Sony, the manufacturer of the laptops brand "highend" (high performance) VAIO, aims in Romania the sale of 7,000 units and a market share of 5% on this segment for the current financial year, which will end on 31 March 2009.
"In the previous financial year, we sold 3,800 notebooks. In the medium term, we proposed to achieve a market share of 5%", said Lia Burghelea, marketing director of the company for Central Europe and South-Eastern Europe. Last year were sold in Romania, according to research firm Gartner, about 297,000 of laptops.
The leader of the local market of portable computers is Fujitsu Siemens Computers, which in the first quarter of the year, has sold nearly 22,000 units. Sony launched yesterday in Romania three models notebooks FW series, designed for entertainment, and one of the Z series for the business segment.
