A 9th grade student was shot with a non-lethal gun during class, by his master teacher. The event was kept secret for about a month, until a classmate told the story to the victim’s family.
Jane Ilie, aged 58, has been teaching math at Grupul Scolar CFR high school in Craiova for the past nine years. For a reason unknown by the school’s administration he carries his gun during classes.
”The incident took place during class, when Jane Ilie took out his gun, for which he has a permit, from his pocket, in order to put it in his briefcase, according to the teacher’s statement. By doing so, the gun discharged and a pupil was shot with rubber bullets in his left arm. The boy’s statement differs”, said Luminita Tenea, the school’s headmistress.
According to the rest of the boy’s colleagues, the teacher deliberately shot the child, in order to theach his student a lesson, for apparently offending another classmate, sources from the police said.
The school’s administration said the theacher is suspended until the inquiry is finalized, so Jane Ilie took up a medical leave, for a couple of weeks.
