Starting today, the car pollution tax will be submitted to a public hearing procedure.
Until the 10 of April, anyone can express an opinion concerning the new method of tax calculation on the Internet at www.taxapoluare.audieripublice.ro.
The opinions expressed until the deadline will be taken into account at the elaboration of the law. The tax calculation method submitted to the public hearing is based on the technical characteristics of each car and on the CO2 and noxious emissions. The tax will drop together with the car value.
The tax for Euro 3 and Euro 4 cars will be calculated in accordance with the quantity of CO2 emissions. "The proportion will be 30% - CO2 and 70% - other noxious gases, for Euro 3 and Euro 4 cars", said the Environment Minister, Atilla Korodi. Even so, the new tax value for new cars is larger than the current one, but smaller with 10%-20% for the cars that are older than 4-5 years.
For the Euro 1, Euro 2 or non-euro cars the current formula will remain effective.
