A former colonel who was decorated by the UN threatens to ask a Court to liquidate President Basescu’s limo in order to receive his money, which were illegally confiscated.
From the cycle “It happens in Romania”: a former colonel of the Security and Protection Service (SPP), who received exceptional grades from the UN and was decorated by Kofi Annan, has come to ask for the presidential limo. This happens in Dumitru Vlad’s case, a colonel sent in reserve by SPP’s administration in 2005.
Armed with a Court’s final decision which states that he must receive his salaries, the colonel was mocked by the SPP, as they told him that their funds are insufficient. Therefore, the colonel started to think at Basescu’s presidential limo.
Decorated by the UN, rated out by his subordinates
Colonel Vlad was part of a SPP group selected by the UN for protection missions in 2004. A year later he was to find out that he will be sent to reserve by the former SPP chief, Gabriel Naghi, despide his exceptional grades. Vlad’s lawyer, Antonie Popescu, told us that degraded for disciplinary reasons.
The colonel started a legal action against the service and was rehabilitated through a Court’s decision who also stated that he must receive retroactive payments of the salary. Vlad chose to return to work, from where he resigned due to the “colleague’s resentfulness”, but without receiving his money.
The colonel’s lawyer says that SPP used every legal way to delay the payments. Thus, Dumitru Vlad decided notified SPP that either he gets his money back, or he will chose re-directed compensations, meaning anything from the service’s property, from the office furniture.
Among these, SPP owns the famous presidential limo. Colonel Vlad takes part in special protection missions in Lebanon, for the UN.
