Takeover. The engineering company Schaeffler could launch a 10 billions euro offer for the takeover of Continental, the fourth largest tire producer in the world.
Royal bank of Scotland is participating at the financing of the offer, which will be with at least 15% larger than the quotation recorded by the Continental shares at the cosing of Friday's transactions. If it will be finalized, the agreement would be the largest transaction since the beginning of the year in Europe. "The company is ready for the launch of a hostile offer. RBS is the main financier of the proposal, according to sources close to the situation", according to "Financial Times". The Schaeffler and Continental representatives refused to confirm or deny the information.
