The Black Sea surrounding countries want to build a 7.000 kilometers long higway, that will connect Romania, Bulagaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine, nations that are part of the Black Sea Organisation for Economical Cooperation (OCEMN).
The highway will start in Istanbul and pass trough Odessa, Chisinau, Bucharest, Constanta, Sofia, Belgrad and Tirana.
Since the project includes routes from the transeuropean transport network, the plan initiators hope to receive funds from the European Union, besides the ones received from the European Investments Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and The World Bank. "Slim chances"
The Ministry of Transports, Ludovic Orban considers that the project has few chances of succeeding. "The Black Sea highway has slim chances, it's not a compulsory project", said Orban, quoted by Mediafax.
Until 2013, Romania will be involved in the construction of four highways: The fourth paneuropean Corridor (includes the Arad-Pitesti-Bucharest-Constanta sections), The ninth Corridor (Giurgiu-Bucharest-Ploiesti-Albita), Transilvania higway (Brasov-Bors) and the Iasi-Targu- Mures highway. The projects include 1.644 kilometers, of which 122 must be delivered at the end of this year. The funds are raised from the State budget, European financing and foreign credits.
