The 30 restaurants opened in the country are selling daily 6.7 tonnes of preparations of chicken, spicy chicken wings being among the preferences of the customers.
Approximately 35,000 people every are going in one of the 30 restaurants of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in the country, and the most sold menus are Crispy Strips and spicy chicken wings, argue the company representatives who released yesterday the results recorded in the mid of this year.
On average, per day in all the 30 KFCs are sold approximately 1.7 tons of spicy chicken wings, over 3 tons of Crispy Strips and over 2 tons of chicken pieces. In the first six months of the year, KFC restaurants in Romania have achieved a turnover of 18 million euros, sales aiming largely chicken and French fries. Compared with the same period last year, the company reported an increase of over 49%.
Financial results announced yesterday by company officials are due in large part to the aggressive development strategy in the country, which was materialized through launches in Constanta, Craiova, Suceava, Targu-Mures and Arad. In the last year, were opened seven new restaurants. The main competitor of KFC on the Romanian market of fast food restaurants is the chain McDonald's, which had at the end of last year 51 restaurants throughout the country. Last year, the two competitors finished shoulder to shoulder, reporting an increase of 15%.
The average voucher: $ 20
The anti fast-food rhetoric is also expanding in Romania. Who and when goes at KFC? Company representatives say that active persons, aged between 19 and 40 years who do eat regularly in the city are the most loyal customers. 70% of them go during the week and pay an average voucher of $ 20 per visit. "As an average, Friday is the most agglomerated day of the week, but depends on the season and the positioning of the restaurant", company officials say.
KFC restaurants are present on the Romanian market since 1996 and the franchise held by the U.S. Food Network is one of the most expensive on the market. Opening a new restaurant can cost between 300,000 and 1 million euros.
