Ion Iliescu speaks of the "filthy ways of Europe"

The former romanian president and the honorific president of Romania's main oposition party has criticised "the infect european bureaucracy".

Iliescu made these statements during a party meeting of the Social Democrat Party (PSD) of Romania, where he started by criticising the European Union for not helping small countries.

Other leading members of the party were not so much as surprised or shocked by Iliescu's remarks. They were rather impressed with the collourfull language, which reminded of a famous remark on Ion Iliescu: "property is nothing but a caprice".

The current party leader, Mircea Geoana replied, amused by the words - "filthy" and "infect" - coming from Ion Iliescu. Geoana said: "Who is to say that only Traian Basescu uses a colourfull language?"

"EU must not neglect it's relation toward China and India"

The former romanian president claims that new members of EU are treated as "a periphery" and "are not helped" and furthermore, "Europe has a problem". "It's not possible for Europe to entertain the social and economical gaps. Europe must resolve these gaps. That is why Europe is filthy", Iliescu said.

He criticised the deepening of "social polarisation" between citizens from Western Europe and the ones in Eastern Europe. Iliescu was trying to talk about the issue of european funds. He claimed that the goverments of member states are not to be blamed when the money are not absorbed and that the guilt comes mostly from the european bureaucracy.

"So it's clear that we are dealing with an infect european bureaucracy", Iliescu concluded. He pleaded for his principle that "small countries should be helped" and "the more european funds should be given" and directed to underdeveloped countries, thus reducing the gaps.

Iliescu also criticised the fact that the European Union does not encourage commercial relations with emergent markets from China, India and Russia.
