Court Rules : President Cannot Be Charged With Theft

Law specialists say that Romanian President, Graian Basescu cannot be charged of any crime, after snatching TV reporter’s phone.

Law counselors say that Basescu cannot be charged for any crime, because his facts do not break any law.    Lawyer, Ana Diculescu-Sova , considered as the best trial lawyer in Romania, said that Basescu cannot be charged with breaking any law contained within the Penal or Civil Code.

”Laws contain many common sense elements. Article 208 sanctions theft as a severe crime, committed with a precise purpose: that of  appropriating someone else’s goods with the intention of keeping them or selling them  ”, Sova said.

Furthermore, according to the lawyer , the judiciary authorities must also consider the circumstances in which a certain crime was committed.

“I think a man has the right to choose whom to talk to. In that moment, Traian Basescu, was there not as the President Traian Basescu but as the man. I think his reaction must be respected because what he said was not within any official context”.
