50 € for every new refrigerator

In an electoral year, the Government decided to offer 50 euro for the purchase of refrigerators, washers or air-conditioning devices.

The Government wants to stimulate the population to replace the old electronical devices with new ones and reduce power consumption. "This bonus will be offered for the purchase of any of the three products, and will be effective in 2009" said the Minister of Economy and Finance, Varujan Vosganian.

Vosganian didn't say what funds will be allocated to the project or how the bonus will be offered, but ministry officials declared that the Government will make a deal with the companies that sell this devices. The Minister hopes that this measure will reduce power consumption.
