Heavy trucks can use the Sun Highway in the weekend only within certain hours, set by a government’s decision.
So, trucks heavier than 7,5 tons can no longer be on A2 on Friday between 15.000 hours and midnight, and on Saturday between 6.00 and 14.00. on Sunday, they won’t be allowed to be on the highway between 6.00 and 22.00.
These new regulations started yesterday also on DN22 C and DN 3 and will be in effect until September 15. Exceptions will be made for heavy cars driving persons exclusively.
According to the authorities, the restrictions were made because on DN 22C, every week end, there are 1500 cars per hour on each side of the road, which leads to an overcrowding of 50% of the road’s capacity.
