The Japanese care manufacturer who wants to produce auto parts in Campulung Muscel and the germans looked up for available properties around Sibiu county.
Mitsubishi is interested in building a factory where the former Romanian car manufacturer Aro was situated. The german Mercedes-Benz Group was also interested in buying a 4 square kilometers field near Sibiu.
Ford will start its car production at the Craiova factory this summer and the Czech manufacturer Skoda wants to import interior parts and electrical units made in Romania for its SUV model named Yeti which will be launched in the summer of 2009.
Klaus Johannis the Mayor of Sibiu said yesterday that Mercedes-Benz has sent several consultants in Romania in order to inspect the opportunity of investments in the country’s northern region.
“They are searching for a 4 square kilometers terrain. Unfortunately there are no such fields around Sibiu county and I don’t think they can find such properties in Romania”, said Johannis. He also added that after that search, the germans were no longer interested in building a factory near Sibiu.
