The new car is expected to be available in two years, but the producers are already testing the model in Scandinavia. The test are focused on the chassis and traction performance.
Dacia started the tests for the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) model in Scandinavia, and WorldCarFans website published yesterday spy photos and a graphic iterpretation of the car . The SUV will probably be realesed at the end of 2009 and, after a few months, will be available on the market.
According to sources inside the company, Dacaia was testing, before the strike, a crossover model (4X4) at Mioveni. The new model cost could be of least 11.000 euro, and the regular version will have only front wheels traction "incapable of roll off-road", said the journalists that observed the tests.
Truck and SUV, on the same line
Dacia's officials confirmed, afer the launch of the pick-up, over a month ago, that the next model will be an SUV that will be released in 2009. Other then the SUV, a new sedan, a five doors hatchback and a MCV Estate will also be produced. Rumours that Dacia will produce a pick-up truck are also circulating.
Dacia could develop a platform taht will be divided between the SUV and the possible pick-up truck. Dacia is also considering opening new factories in North Africa, the Middle East and Russia, according to WorldCarFans. The SUV will be the sixth Logan model. Renault group wants to sell 750.000 units in 2008, and a million in 2009.
