Transporters will postpone their protests

The transporters gave the goverment a 30 days respite before they will start to organize new protests, even though they recently announced that the marches will be restarted on Friday.

"The manifestations will continue if the government does't respond to our demands. Only next time we will protest in 24 cities, instead of 18", said yesterday, Ion Lixandru, viceprsident of the National Union of Road Transpoters (UNTTR). Representatives from over 15.000 transport companies that are members of the National Road Council said that, at this moment, bankruptcy is close for transporters, because the transport tariffs are smaller than the costs.

Ro-vignete ellimination, discriminatory

The ro-vignete payment annulation for national roads remains a delicate subject in the negociations between the transporters and the Government. Ludovic Orban, the transportation minister, said that the ro-vignete elimination is out of the question.

On the other hand, arujan Vosganian, the minister of economy and finance, said yesterday that if fuel prices will include the tax, as the transporters asked, the fuel and public transportation prices will grow, and car owners that rarely leave the cities will be unjustly taxed. The ro-vignete for 12 months costs 1.210 euro for trucks with a 12 tones capacity, 400 euro more than in Hungary and Bulgaria. The price of the ro-vignete was raised with 40% since the begining of the year.
