President’s meeting with representatives of PNL and opposition party PSD regarding the current political crisis was in fact a confrontation of two opposing political forces.
“Don’t you ever thin I don’t have solutions (e.n - to end the crisis). I have about three, but I would only reveal them after finalizing talks with all the parties”, the President told representatives of the National Liberal Party or PNL.
PNL and PSD representatives replied that they don’t think the president can manage the crisis and put it to an end. They also accused him of being the one responsible with launching it.
PSD leader Mircea Geoana and liberal Crin Antonescu had the same standing in the issue: “The solution of the political crisis resides within the Parliament, not the Presidency.
Basescu then landed a blow to the Liberal’s confidence: “I know what solutions you have in mind. I saw the way you allied yourself with PSD. Will you stand together with them ?”.
Although leaders of the various political parties talked about a political deadlock in Romania, a political crisis, none offered a viable solution.
The President said he is aware that there is an anti-Presidential majority within the Parliament that supports PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu.
