Ukraine refuses to pay Romania for the one billion dollars constructions made at the factory.
Ukraine negociates from a strict position the entire payment to Romania of the one billion dollars debt, money invested by our state, in time, in the construction of the mining factory from Krivoi Rog.
At the last meeting between the two countries representatives, at the begining of the month, Romania asked the Ukrainian officials to say what are their intentions with the factory: "We have asked this question in order to decide what will we do next: if it will be privatised, we could, for example, ask for entire compensations and sell our participation, only if the Ukrainian state will guarantee the returning of the debt", said the Romanian chief representative, Viorel Palas, as state secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
The Ukrainian part expressed it's point of view on a local news agency, quoted by Hotnews.ro. "If Romania wants to exit the Krivoi Rog project, and will leave the factory unfinished, the calculation formula will be modified", said the Ukrainian vice-minister of Industry, Serghei Griscenko.
The Ukrainian representatives asked that the project to be submitted to a new protocol after the disscusions between the presidents of Romania and Ukraine, in October 2007. Then, Traian Basescu spoke about Romania's lack of interest in the constructions finalisation and the possibility to withdraw from the Krivoi Rog project, in the conditions of a new method of calculation for the sum that should be payed for the construction works and the machines that were utilized.
Ukraine speaks of a new evaluation of the Krivoi Rog objectives, and Romania, said Viorel Palasca, intends to ask interest for the invested sum. The next meeting between the two countries will take lace in June. EQUIPMENT COMPENSATIONS
Trilateral disscusions with Russia
The Romanian delegation said, on the 7-8 of April, that Russia should take part at the disscusions between Ukraine and Romania. The head of the Romanian represenatives, Viorel Palasca, explained why: "To apply what we had prommised for Krivoi Rog, we neede equipment that was not produced in Romania. We bought them from Russia and were used exclusively for the Ukrainian factory. We left the equipments at Krivoi Rog, and now we need Russia to help us get for them a 94 million dollars compensation.
