EVZ EDITORIAL: Cristoiu, scribbler at Oprescu's court

Mircea Marian: "In Antiquity and Middle Ages, all the great prices were holding, near their court, a chronicler which related their deeds, for posterity."

When the king returned from the battlefield, he called the available scribbler and he made him write: "Today, anno Domini... His Greatness, with the help of God,..." followed by a romanced story in which the facts were distorted depending on the interest of the one who dictating.

Sorin Oprescu is not, of course, who knows a great personality, but even at this inferior level there are enough scratch-scratch on the paper, willing to glorify the possible future mayor of the Capital. "Oprescu is a classical type of rebel", is perorating, at the station of the Voiculescu family, Ion Cristoiu, who replaced the pen with the use of the mouth. Or: "Oprescu is not an usual independent, is a personality from a party...". How enters, together with Oprescu, in the cast gallery o heroes for Cristoiu? "Dissidents or rebel personalities, Crin Antonescu from PNL, Norica Nicolai...", explains the former journalist of a supplement of "Scanteia Tineretului".

I wouldn't bother to comment the stupidities said in the last few weeks by the ridiculous trio from Antena 3 - the theologist, the communist and the professor who laughs by himself. To promote Norica Nicolai as dissident or rebel surpasses any level of obsequiousness. More, it's exactly what these characters want - to be noticed. They will be capable of appearing naked in the show if they will consider that this will save their ratings.

I think that we can conclude something from the obsessiveness with which the station of the Voiculescu family is promoting Oprescu. For a long time we are wondering who is manipulating this Manchurian candidate. There is no Romanian businessman so unselfish that he will offer him money just because, he is fighting, like Basescu, against the scoundreled system.

An answer, maybe too simple, would be: Oprescu is a long term investment made by some businessman like Dan Voiculescu and his friend Dinu Patriciu. For a long time, the two are desperately looking for someone capable of fighting with Basescu at the elections from 2009. In the period when Traian Basescu was banned, they had wooed the BNR governor, Mugur Isarescu. From pretty obscure reasons, Isarescu refused to engage in a battle against Basescu. Next on the list was Ion Tiriac. Too old, so this option also failed. The Sorin Oprescu solution appeared just in time. The reason for which Patriciu and Voiculescu are investing in this "independent candidate" is that they know that, if they get rid of Basescu, they will get their money back.

As for Cristoiu he doesn't make anything else different than other propagandists raised in the Ceausescu regime did: he is glorifying the deeds of the master who keeps him near his court. If when he appears in the show he would give up the look of independent commentator and put a sign which reads "employee of the Voiculescu family" would be, in the end, more accurate.
