Around 40% of the pre-payed cards users in Romania are using the electronic recharging of the credit, according to a study of the PayUp company, which made yesterday its official debut on the local market.

The company of electronic payments will nvest until the end of 2008, 6 millions euro in the development of a network of 6.000 terminals and the introducing of new services on the market. "Romania is one of the most rapid and dynamic markets from the European Union, which follows the newest trends and technologies faster than other states, which were the object of a PayUp analysis", said Luis Janeiro, general director of the PayUp group.

PayUp representatives say that the firm is ready to process electronic recharging transactions for pre-payed cards of mobile telecoms, because the informatics platform is operational, and the contracts with the mobile telecoms operators Orange Romania and Vodafone Romania are already signed. Agreements with other mobile operators will follow.

The bill market is very attractive

In Romania, 66% from the total number of users of the mobile telecoms services are using pre-payed cards, the market being evaluated to over 350 millions euro.

PayUp intends to enter in the future the electronic bill payments from Romania, evaluated to 5.8 billions euro. "We are intending to set up partnerships with banks, in order to supply other financial services", said Janeiro. This services include credit and debt cards, gift cards, micro credits or money transfers.

On the local market of electronic card recharging, the largest players are Bordos, part of the Euronet group, and PayZone, followed by E-Pin, part of Ecogrup, and PayStore.
