Editia cu numarul 49 a celebrelor premiilor Grammy, care rasplatesc performantele din lumea muzicii, si-a desemnat castigatorii, intr-o gala gazduita de orasul Los Angeles.

Un premiu special a fost castigat de formatia rock Slayer, care a primit un Grammy pentru o melodie inspirata de povestea unui soldat american care s-a sinucis la scurt timp dupa intoarcerea din Irak.

Formatia rock Red Hot Chili Peppers a castigat trei premii Grammy, pentru cea mai buna melodie rock, cea mai buna performanta vocala si pentru cel mai bun album in editie limitata, "Stadium Arcadium".

Unul dintre cele mai ravnite premii, pentru cel mai bun cantec al anului, a fost castigat de trupa country Dixie Chicks cu piesa "Not Ready To Make Nice".

La categoria "Cel mai bun album latino", juriul a declarat ca nu poate face departajarea intre Arjona si Julieta Venegas.
