Carrefour Romania boss leaves for Russia

Patrice Lespagnol was appointed general director of the supermarket chain Carrefour Romania, announced the company.

The Spaniard will replace Jacobo Caller Celestino, who rennounced his position in Romania to takeover the Russian operations of the French company.

"Patrice Lespagnol, appointed executive director on the 15 of April, was the managing director of Carrefour Spain", said Andreea Mihai, the company's marketing director. Celestino was mananging Carrefour Romania since June 2006, and in the course of his term the number of supermarkets double, from six to twelve. The comapany also doubled it's affairs, compared to 2005, reaching, last year, to 866 millions euro.

Celestino missed "by a nose" the 1 billion euro level, estimated for this year, but he managed the takeover of the Artima chain and started negociations with G'market. At just 38 years of age, Celestino is the country's youngest manager that Carrefour has. Lawyer by proffesion, the Spaniard was, at first, salesman in different departments of the Corte Ingles mall from Spain, then head of the Continente chain (owned by Carrefour), junior director and regional director of Carrefour in Northern Spain.
