Passengers luggages have become a real gold mine for the US airlines, after the Federal Administration for Aviation imposed an average tax of 15 dollars (9.4 euro) for every bag which passes the control check-point, writes "Los Angeles Times" in the online version.

Us Airways and United Airways will bring the new taxes from July 19, and August 18, while the luggage division of American Airlines, AMR Corp., imposed the luggage tax in June. The three US operators decided to bring a new tax as response to the losses they have recorded because of the accelerated increase of fuel prices which led to a drop of profits and to the share prices decrease. The new tax for luggages can be payed at the ticket houses and, soon, online, according to US Airways and United Airways representatives.
