The new used car registration tax may be enacted this summer.
European Committee asked Romanian officials in Brussels, yesterday, to present a new formula for the used car registration tax and to come up with a legislative draft that would regulate the modification on the taxation system.
”The Committee had a positive attitude, but the Romanian part must make a draft law considering all the proposals, that must be sent to the European Union legislative”, sources within the Ministry of Economy said.
The new version proposed by Bucharest officials proposes l,owers the tax to half for Euro4 engines, but it maintains and even hikes its value for the Euro3 or Euro2 versions.
The new formula works best for local carmakers and not the common citizen, because they will no longer be threatened by cheap Euro3 or Euro2 imported cars .
