Generals Chitac, Andrita and Costea will be prosecuted for killing some civilians. The part of the file where the ex-president Ion Iliescu is accused of complicity to manslaughter is continued by the prosecutors of the Penal Indictment and Criminality.
In the report send to the court it specifies that Iliescu, as head of state was the one who took the decision of dispersing the civilians during the miners strike, exceeding his attributions and ordering the military intervention with war ammunition and TAB’s.
All army commandments were sent a message that said “the turbulent elements will try to enter other objectives and they are armed; all militaries must have their bayonets on their rifles and must defend against those who attack. They are not revolutionaries, they are legionary counter revolutionaries”.
