8.000 employees of Dacia Renault factory in Pitesti have entered strike for an unlimited period of time this morning.
The Romanian workers are unhappy with their wages and ask for a 550 lei (140 euros) salary raise.
The workers union asks for a first raise, of 350 lei (90 euros), beginning with the 1st of January 2008, followed by another raise, of 200 lei (50 euros). During the negotiations the Dacia Renault administration made an offer of 118 lei (32 euros).
The protest causes daily losses of at least 10.5 million euros.
