Ion Iliescu attacked yesterday his successor, Traian Basescu.
Everything started from the interview given by Basescu before the referendum for Politique Internationale, where he criticized Iliescu for his crimes committed at the Revolution in 1889 and during the miners’ coming in 1990. The ex chief of state said that Basescu as invented by a group of oligarchs who helped him become president.
“You cannot always pose as incorruptible, as the fighter with the evil system, as long as you have contributed and you are fully contributing at its corruption. I am reminding you that you have been suspended for real breakings of the Constitution”, said Iliescu.
In return, the president’s spokesman, Valeriu Turcan has qualified Iliescu’s gesture as a typical example of soviet influenced propaganda, not dignifying for an ex chief of state”.
