MD Ion Blajan, reelected as President of the Baia Mare branch of the Social Democratic Party or PSD was imprisoned in the 70’s for child molesting allegations.
Ion Blajan was sentenced in 1975 to one year and four months of prison for homosexual intercourse with children.
”Evenimentul zilei” discovered the official document with the sentence ruled by a judge I Beclan Courthouse in November 1975.
The document shows he was found guilty of sexually molesting male children. However he was indicted on the basis of the famous Article 200 who was condemning sexual relations with a person of the same gender .
Confronted by the media, he did not try to conceal his past actions
PSD President, Mircea Geoana, said he was not aware of Blajan past.
“I cannot judge people by their past. We took notice of the situation and we will need to discuss it”, Geoana added.
