President Faces Penal Charges

President Faces Penal Charges

The Romanian Press Club or CRP recommends a day without news about the Romanian President, because of racial discrimination charges against him.

CRP will file a penal complaint  against President  Traian Basescu. At the same time, the institution recommended TV and Radio station should  not broadcast any news regarding Basescu, tomorrow. The written press is asked to do the same on Friday.

CRP’s  decision comes after Romnia’s Presdnet confiscated the mobile telephone filming him that belonged to a journalist from  Antena 1 TV station.

The telephone recorded then how President Basescu spoke in racist terms about the woman reporter calling her “gipsy punk”

Basescu will take part in hearings on charges of racism against him, today .

“What can we expect from other people than political characters, more or less dubious who exhibited violent behaviors toward journalists in the past and now will consider they can get away with it, like the President  said  Cristian Tudor Popescu, president of  CRP.
