CSAT Passes National Security Laws

The Senate can now debate the pack of laws concerning  national security.

The 83 laws of the pack initiated by the National Liberal Party or PNL did not receive an authorization from CSAT, merely an opinion, a point of view.

According to a sources within CSAT, the Council choose the expression  “point of view” and not “authorization” because CSAT only authorizes pack of laws initiated by the Government, not  those drafted by a political party.

The vote was not unanimous.

“Many different opinions were formulated and there were points where we could not all agree on”, Romania’s interim President, Nicolae Vacaroiu said.

The idea of establishing an sole  watchdog  for phone tapping was not authorized.
