Victor Lichi from Bacau was a student sent for reeducation, and he fooled the torture after making friends with the apprentices of the sadistic torturer Eugen Turcanu.
According to his version, his friendship with two of the torturer’s apprentices put him to shelter from the horrors which other detained suffered. He admits that, in Pitesti, his only goal was to save his own skin. To succeed, he closely followed the instructions coming from those who protected him.
Asked what he did after coming from the Canal, he replied that he wanted to continue his studies. He had already done three years at the Politehnica, but he was told that the orders were not go reinstate ex political detainees. He started working as unqualified worker in Moinesti until he retired as a section chief.
