An engineer from Cluj sold two of the Dacical bracelets in the USA for 70.000 euros.
The person from Cluj, who for the last two years has been a witness in the “Dacic Gold” process, regarding the recent history of the golden bracelets discovered in the Orastie Mountain, became an accused at the beginning of May.
Horia Radu is 40 and he is an engineer but he did not work in his field for a single minute. Ever since he can remember, he collected ancient objects. In the beginning there were old coins made of gold silver or copper, from any age. Then, he became a refined connoisseur and the only known dealer in Western Europe.
Now, the district attorneys decided to accuse him in the “Dacic Gold” case, suspected of being guilty of selling two of the dacical bracelets.
So far, the Romanian state has recovered one third of the 15 dacical bracelets stolen from the Orastie Mountains. The first was spotted last year at an exhibition in Paris, and later brought in the country. Another 4 were recovered in November from an American collector in New York. The ministry of Culture announced that another 3 bracelets could be recovered, but the necessary amount of money needed is 134.000 lei.
