Gheorghe Nichita, the illegal mayor of Iasi

The first six months of mandate of the actual mayor of Iasi, PSD member Gheorghe Nichita, are null.

This is the conclusion of a checking made in March 2007 by the inspectors of the Administration and Internal Ministry. According to the report, which was never revealed to the public, the mayor was in a situation of incompatibility since June 2004 and the end of that year.

The reason: he did not leave the management position he had at RAJAC Iasi as stated by the law at that time. Practically, Nichita kept his seat taken at Rajac in case of a political or administrative failure.

For now, no measures have been taken against the incompatible mayor. ”I have not received any results after the enquiry in Iasi. If the mayor Nichita did not leave his RAJAC management job, I will suspend him from his current position, as the law demands”, said Nicusor Paduraru, Iasi prefect yesterday.
