Five Romanians dream of politics in Italy

Five Romanian immigrants in Italy will go to the local polls from 13-14 of April. The stake: a place in local Councils, or a mayor.

Dumitru Ilinca, aged 38, had entered the public life of Padova last year, in February. He became a member of „Nuovi Italiani - Partito Immigrati“, and quickly received a post of coordinator for the region of Veneto.

Gabriel Rusu was a counselor in Rome’s City Hall. He is one of the 60 candidates in “Rutelli’s list”, that supports Francesco Rutelli, the current Minister of Culture, for the Rome City Hall. Rutelli is considered favourite in the canvass and the most appropriate politician to replace Walter Veltroni.

Georgel Matei, the president of “Tricolorul” association of Tivoli, will try for a post of  local counselor from the left coalition. Florica Lupasteanu will try up for the local Council of Ivrea, on behalf of the Democrat Party. Daniel Bostaca is the president of Romania Association of Rome and will try up for a local counselor post in San Cesareo. He is 39 years old, coming from the central region of Romania (Brasov) and has lived in Italy since 1999.
