Only two years after becoming a monk, Dan Ilie Ciobotea became number two in the Romanian Orthodox Church.
The hierarch with the biggest ascension in the history of BOR has the biggest chances of following the ex patriarch. IPS Daniel was raised in 1990 from patriarchal counselor to vicar bishop, and a few months later, as Moldavia and Bucovina metropolital.
Who recommended him for such a high position, as he was not yet 40 years old? Graduate from the Sibiu Theological Institute, he managed to continue his studies abroad, at universities in France and Germany.
Not everyone in his family see him in good eyes. Gheorghe Ciobotea is 61 and he is Daniels’ big brother. He is a simple man, ex tractor driver who lives in poverty with his family and had a quarrel with the high hierarch many years go. He tells how 24 years ago he was thrown out of the house by his brother. In 2000 he agreed to renounce to his share of their parents’ house, and also falsely took over the terrain inherited from the grandparents.
IPS Daniel could not be contacted to say his opinion regarding these accusations from his own brother.
