Dozens of beautiful girls, dressed in yellow t-shirts, are holding the umbrellas above the carting cars, aligned at the start line.
Three minutes until the race of the Romanian Carting championship starts. Among the pilots waiting at the start line, we can find Calin, the eldest son of the premier. The father watches his son for 12 minutes, for the entire race.
1.800 lei per month; that’s how much his son’s hobby costs; 150 lei every practice which he attends three times a week (which includes the equipment and the car). To participate to the championship races, a tax of 1.600 lei must be paid before each competition.
The participation tax is supported by his sponsor, the car manufacturer Citroen, whose only importer in Romania is ATS, the premier’s company.
