US Holds Two Romanian "Spies" In Custody, In Iraq

EVZ revealed yesterday that two Romanians were detained in November last year by the US Army in Iraq  for accusations of espionage.

Romanian president Traian Basescu, currently away on an official visit in Brussels, said he was not notified of the incident until yesterday.

“If the two carried out illegal activities they must pay for it, if not, we will see.”

The full story was told to Liviu Iolu EVZ’s special reporter by some of the two’s co-workers.

It is almost certain that the two Romanian citizens were arrested for filming outside the Q-West  US  military  installation near Mosul.

One of their colleagues gave a full coverage of the story: "Nelu Ilie ibought a JVC camera for $ 300 form another Romanian who bought it from a US soldier  in Tikrit. Only Americans and workers with special passes from the Coalition are allowed to buy cameras.  Nelu and  Gancean only had some provisory passes allowing them to buy a camera . Ilie Nelu was the one filming, he was in the car with Gancean driving a  Al-Morrell Development car toward the trash dump site.they were stopped by a US Army patrol who asked them if they have any cameras".
