The new meteorological enemy: storms out of the blue

The storms are hitting without any notice because of the heat. After a day with no wind, a powerful storm hit by surprise on Tuesday night.

The causes of this meteorological phenomenon are explained by the meteorologist from ANM.

The storms occur when a cold air mass reaches a zone where the air on the soil level is over heated. At temperate latitudes, the storms occur more often in summer usually at the end of a hot day, when the temperature on the ground level reaches 35-45 degrees.

On Tuesday night, a wave of cold air from the north of Muntenia came towards Bucharest where it met a tropical air mass which has been stationing over the city for days and this is how the storm came to being.
