President Traian Basescu and the Russian president Vladimir Putin met yesterday for the second time in 24 hours, in an ex ottoman palace on the Bosfor banks.
The two head of states were neighbors to the president of the Moldova Republic, Vladimir Voronin at the summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation of the Black Sea, in Istanbul.
Before the summit, Basescu stopped for a few minutes to the old Fanar quarter for the inauguration of the Dimitrie Cantemir Museum. “Let’s go!” encouraged Basescu the Istanbul Mayor to cut the ribbon. Basescu donated to the museum a portrait of Cantemir’s signed by Henry Mavrodin, same artist who painted Pope John Paul the 2nd during his visit in Bucharest.
