On the Romanian political scene, there are negotiations, most of them secret, about two government formulas which do not include the actual premier.
In the next two days there are expected three decisions to clarify the Romania political scene: the first, the liberals would give up Tariceanu, the second, PSD would give Tariceanu’s head on a plate and allow him to appoint a favored premier; the third, in case that the liberals stay united around Tariceanu, Basescu would officially invite PSD to form the government.
PSD leaders are tempted to accept Basescu’s offer to enter the government. According to sources in PSD, they are waiting for a public invitation, but for now, they have only promises made in informal meetings.
The disputes are also complicated by the idea of anticipated elections, but Mircea Geoana has a different opinion considering that the elections are not a solution; this is also a null option in the case of those PSD parliament members who are at their last mandate, and will certainly vote against this kind of decision taken by the party management.
Some of the PSD leaders consider that the group in Cluj and Basescu are using the anticipated elections as a scarecrow so the only options are: a PSD government or a government favored by Cotroceni.
