The ambulance can come 7 hours late

The response time for an ambulance when a major emergency occurs is 35 minutes, way too much for this kind of situations.

This is the conclusion of the meeting held by the College of the Prefecture, which took place yesterday and where representatives from the intervention institutes attended.

For second degree emergencies, we are even badly prepared. The average time is 2 hours and 47 minutes, said the Sub prefect Calin Deaconescu.

In 8% of the cases the ambulances reached this kind of emergencies after 7 hours since the call had been received; the cause seems to be the increased number of construction or consolidating works as well as the small number of departure points for the ambulances.

The report also shows that the number of deaths caused by the delay of the ambulances is increasing, and that only last year 2300 people died between the time of the call for the ambulance and the arrival.
