Romanian Parliament enacted a decision that prologues the period in which Romania’s President is suspended. The decision comes against European Union regulations.
The Parliament’s decision on the object and date and object of the referendum for the President’s dismissal, enacted yesterday is against European regulations on public referendums.
The European Committee for Democracy through the Venetia Law enacted guidelines for a public referendum in November 2006, because, after careful examination the Committee reached the conclusion that guidelines need to be established because the referendum could be used as political tool. The guidelines explicitly say that, except for technical norms and organizing details, the referendum rules must be laws .
They also must be modified own year before the referendum, must observe the Constitution stipulations and also be okayed by a judiciary Committee .
However, the Romanian Parliament did not observe none of the above rules.
