The production of fall crops like like wheat and barley may be affected on large areas.
Five Counties in Romania asked to be designated as calamity areas and farmers asked for Government financial help . This year’s wheat will be scarce and of bad quality , according to agriculture specialists.
Because of the global warming process , Romania will fall victim to the most severe draught since 1967.
Ministry of Agriculture already registered some 210,000 hectares of land partially or totally affected by drought early this week.
Olt, Iasi, Caras-Severin, Dolj and Giurgiu Counties will most likely be declared calamity areas due to this summer’s forecasted draught.
