Both Romanian and Polish officials announce as certain the opening of a Mercedes factory in their countries, even though the auto producer hadn't made an official announcement about this subject.
The minister for IMM, Ovidiu Silaghi, said, earlier this week, that Daimler, the owner of Mercedes, will produce the types A Klasse and B Klasse in a factory that it will be built in near Timisoara.
At the same time, the Poles say that the German auto producer has chosen Poland as settlement for a new Mercedes factory. According to the Polish edition of Newsweek, which quotes sources from the company, the factory is going to be placed on a 22 hectares field, at Ujazd, close to the Polish and German border, and it will produce Mercedes cars. The unit will have over 3.000 employees, and production will start after 2010. On the other hand, Mercedes officials, who previously announced that they are looking for a suitable place for a factory in Romania and Poland, say that they have not reached an official decision.
"Mercedes haven't decided the founding of a new factory and haven't decided on the placement of a factory in Poland. Other informations that differ, are pure speculations", said the spokesperson of Mercedes-Benz Cars, part of Daimler, Florian Martens, quoted by the international media. Yesterday, the minister of economy and finances, Varujan Vosganian, denied the informations launched by Ovidiu Silaghi.
