President To Meet With Romanian Spanish Immigrant Suporters

Traian Basescu will take part in meetings organized by his Spanish supporters in Castellon and Madrid, on May 5. Romanians’ passive immigration towards Western states change the electoral strategies for some politicians.

Traian Basescu will make his electoral campaigns outside Romania too. Romania’s suspended President will take part in meetings with Romanian immigrant supporters  in Spain.

The meetings will take place in Madrid and  Castellon, two of Spain most “Romanian” regions. Basescu will arrive in Spain’s Capital around noon. Although he is suspended from office, according to Sapinish diplomatic protocol, he will be ensured transportation and protection by the Spanish authorities.

Some time during the evening, Basescu will reach  Castellon, to take part in the meeting in  Auditorium Sqare within the city’s center( a city where 40,000 Romanans live).

The President’s visit comes after the current Government failed to organize voting offices outside Romania. 

380.000 Romanians are registered with voting rights in Spain, according to official data from 2006, but their real number mat exceed one million.
