Euro, a new yearly low

The reference rate announced by National Bank of Romania (BNR) fell to 3.4719 lei / euro, a new minimum of the year, following the sale orders of foreign currency emitted by local investors. The course is 0.44 lei lower than the rate published Wednesday, of 3.4763 lei / euro. A lower level than that of yesterday was calculated by BNR on 24 December 2007, when one euro was quoted at 3.4673 lei. "The high offer euro is due to the return in the country during the holiday, of the Romanians working abroad. On the other hand, large investors are buying lei, being attracted by the refference interest is more profitable than for other currencies ", says the dealer of a bank, quoted by Mediafax.
