Romanian peasants say that most crops are already severely affected by lack of rain, in various Counties.
The draught in the last two weeks affected all Counties in Romania’s southern part.
Prahova County farmers are on the verge of bankruptcy as it only rained once since the start of the year, thus compromising most crops, especially the fall crop.
According to authorities, out of 40,000 hectares of cultivated land, 30,000 are already compromised by the lack off rain. Specialists carried out measurements and determined that below 20 centimeters, the soil is still dry.
In Braila County, south-eastern Romania, only one quarter of the total agricultural land can be irrigated. The rest is compromised.
