The political class from Romania must assume now the objective of euro adoption in 2014, for it to be possible, said the BNR governor, Mugur Isarescu.
"I'm glad that some steps were made in this direction. I salute president Traian Basescu for the efforts made in this field", said Isarescu, according to Mediafax. He explained that it doesn't have to be a special law, but a realization of the politics that should be followed by every government in the next seven years.
Last week, president Traian Basescu said that Romania must assume the year 2014 for the adoption of euro as currency. "The next major target of Romania is the adoption of euro. We must do this until 2014. This is a realist target only if we will manifest political responsibility in the management of public expenses and if we will introduce coherent mechanisms of planning and multi annual budgetary execution", said the head of states.
At the same time, the European commissar Leonard Orban warned that, without a significant increase in the efficiency of budgetary and fiscal politics, the 2014 objective for the passing to euro will be hard to reach. BNR officials forwarded a long time ago to the government representatives the program for the adoption of euro in 2014.
