Threatened with removal from the government in a month, the liberals are looking for political survival solutions.
If some leaders are talking about the introduction of some left elements in the government program hoping to soften the PSD, others have resigned themselves with the thought of being in the opposition. A possible solution for re launching the party in the opposition is the replacement of Calin Popescu Tariceanu from the PNL leadership.
For now, the liberals are trying a counterattack, displaying a responsible attitude toward the threats from PSD. Tariceanu’s removal is not programmed as a swift one.
A potential adversary is vice president Crin Antonescu, about whom some liberals say that he is planning his attack. He tried as hard as he could to be associated with the Tariceanu II government. He refused to be part of the executive and left for Paris when the ministry list as voted.
