Romania’s most powerful women

The most powerful women in business dominate Capital magazine’s top „100 Successful Romanian women”. Ana Maria Mihaescu, the chief of International Finance Corporation (IFC) for Romania and Moldavia, was named the most powerful woman in the Romania in the past year. 33 women who run various businesses dominate the top, followed by other 31 top-management women.

IFC’s funds coming from the World Bank depend on Ana Maria Mihaescu, which make her the most influent woman in Romania.

The fifth issuance of Capital’s top "100 Successful Romanian Women" looks for the remarcable results in business, management, arts and culture, medicine, sports, politics or diplomacy.

This year’s edition has included 18 new names and recorded the absence of Nadia Comaneci, who occupied the first position in the top, in 2006. „Nadia was extremely busy lately and couldn’t submit her projects so the jury didn’t count her in”, the jury’s members said.

33 women in business dominate the top, followed by the ones who occupy top management positions. An important part of the top is made out of women who are successful in arts and mass media (seven of each), six from the medical world, five free lancers and five from world renowned organizations.

Also, two women from diplomacy and other two coming from sports are present in this edition. Politics and education are poorly represented in the top, having just three women nominated.
