Tariceanu asked  Basescu to postpone the issue until the euro-elections. The PM’s request comes after a series of talks with both Basescu and the leaders of the Parliamentary parties.

"I saked President Basescu to analyze the possibility of postponing the referendum  ", Tariceanu said. He added that if  “most party leaders agreed” he did not sense a consensus in the matter.

I am disappointed ", Tariceanu also said adding that procedures for dismissing the President can anly disturb  the elections for the European Parliament.

"I do not challenge the opposition’s right to suspe3nd the president or the President’s opinion on launching a referendum, I just ask that Romanian interests should be considered first”, Tariceanu said.
